Bar Requirements & Regulations

AS SOON AS THE BARTENDERS ARE ONSITE for the day, all beverages being consumed must be obtained through them.Their license & insurance stipulates this & it will strictly be enforced.

**With the exception of what has been already provided by YOU, the couple, & being served in the “getting ready building” PRIOR to your ceremony**

Anyone not willing to comply with this, drinking/tailgating in the parking lot, consuming beverages not on the approved list from the county, etc, may be asked to leave or alcohol service may need to end. There is no alcohol service to minors.—Again, WI State drinking & serving laws & regulations are given by the STATE :)

PLEASE MAKE YOUR FAMILY & WEDDING PARTY AWARE OF THIS. —This is the NUMBER ONE cause of issue on wedding day and it is out of Oehme Oasis’ control.

Again, you may provide food and alcohol within the Getting Ready Building without a caterer or bartender on property. Therefore you are in control of how much consumption is being done prior to your ceremony.

Quick Reminders:

  • We are required to turn in your beverage menu to St. Croix County— MAKE SURE you have what you are bringing on there, or it will not be able to be served.

    • We are not required to tell them quantities OR brands of liquor. Just the basics: Vodka, Rum, Whiskey, etc.

    • Beer & Seltzers need to state what kind, IE Busch Light, Coors Light, White Claw, etc.

  • Pop being provided needs to be in cans, otherwise add on the Soda Gun option in-house

  • Due to the limited space & inability for the best “cooling” & Co2, No kegs

  • To follow Cylon Municipalities guidelines, no shots, straights or rocks. All liquors must be mixed with an NA source.

  • No consumed drinks are in glass bottles. —-With the exception of liquor bottles being brought in for the bartenders to serve out of

  • Beers need to be standard size, 12oz cans ——Tall Boys/ Silos will not be served.

All Things Bar & Beverages

  • If you are a couple that has decided to provide mixed-drinks to your guests, please note you will need 12oz plastic cups, ice & straws. If you are having wine, you will need to provide 9oz stemless wine glasses. OR, you can simply add on the BEVER-lasting Love Package. *See your WEVEN account for details if you are interested in this, previous couples have loved the simplicity of it.*

  • We currently do not allow kegs, as we do not have the space to house them or the appropriate way to keep them temperature regulated.

  • Bartenders no longer charge a % or drink gratuity!!! It’s AMAZING. Instead it is just a minimum of $1.50-2.50 per guest total. Whether you have 1 bartender or 4. (Should you think about more? Depending on your menu, guest count, and ability, absolutely) However we have great new bartenders who won’t forcibly add the 18-22% minimum of whatever they go through like most do! We are SO excited for this.

  • For safety purposes, no drinks are to be consumed from glassware/bottles. (Excluded from this are the bottles of liquor you provide the bartenders. Those may of course be in glass)

  • We suggest having an empty standard cooler to dump “loose” cans in at the end of the night.

  • To follow Cylon Municipalities guidelines, no shots, straights or rocks. All liquors must be mixed with an NA source.

  • REMINDER: There is not enough space in the coolers behind the bar to hold all your drinks at one time. We highly suggest renting the Cooler Trailer to maintain all your drinks temperatures throughout your event.

    • You may also rent from another source, just note they will need to have their own generator. Previously before requiring this last year, other vendors were blowing our systems & couples were losing power. The cooler trailer we have access too has been rewired and doesn’t do that :)

  • You are free to get drinks wherever you want. We suggest getting them from a place you can return what you didn’t open.

    • To our knowledge, Osceola Valley Spirits buys it back, always double check! You will want to speak with Tom: valleyspirits1@gmail.com

    • You will need to bring your beverages cold, the cooler will then KEEP them cold. Not GET them cold 😊

How Much Do I Need?

This is not a PERFECT science, but previous couples have done great with the following…

Key Considerations

  • What time? First, consider the time of the party. A brunch party won't require as many cocktails as a dinner party.

  • Who's coming? Are your friends big drinkers? You'll probably want more. Have a lot of nondrinker or moderate drinker friends? You may not need as much.

  • How long? Another easy factor to consider is the length of the party.

  • How many? ^^^ All that means nothing if you don't account for how many guests will be in attendance.

  • What's on the drink menu? Consider the variety of beverages you'll be offering; if you will you be focusing on beer, you will need less wine/cocktails.

  • PLEASE do not forget about mocktails/NA beers for adults. {Not just water/soda}

Make Buying Alcohol Easier

  • Make your hosting duties easy by focusing the use of the liquor on a signature cocktail or two. Keep it simple!

    • Start with a classic, think vodka cranberry or lemonade. You can appeal to more guests by giving rum as an option as well.

      • With two liquors and three mixers, you can have a dozen drink options right away. You may also consider batch mixes, such as three gallons of margarita mix, or an Oehme Oasis fav, LOVE PUNCH to satisfy any group.

Tips for Calculating Alcohol

  • Always round up when you're calculating how many bottles or servings you'll need. And if you're still not sure if 2, 4, or 12 bottles will be enough, you can always grab some extra. Put those unopened (or opened) bottles to good use, enjoying them on your own, in your cooking, or return them if able.

  • Remember: Know your audience.

  • If you're not sure how much you'll need for a signature cocktail recipe, such as a rum and cola or Paloma, multiply your ingredients by the number of servings, then boom! You know how much you need.

  • Make sure to have enough cups on hand. Unfortunately our experience has shown guests DO NOT reuse their cups. or do the bever-lasting love package

  • Consider the timing & the age range as you make decisions of what you'll serve and how much.

  • Don't forget to account for food or late night snacks! You'll want your guests to be well fed.

  • Make sure to have water all night & sodas available to hydrate. {Water can be added via the Bever-Lasting Love Package with the bartenders}

It’s Math Time!

**you may want to grab a calculator**

If you're serving a combination of wine, beer, and liquor-based cocktails, your first step will be to break down the number of servings per bottle of wine, liquor, and beer.

Beer Can = 1 serving

Wine Bottles = 4-5 servings

Champagne = 6-7 servings

750ml Bottle of Liquor = Approx. 18 servings when using 1½ ounces.

Guests will typically drink around 1½ to 2 drinks per hour, consuming more in the first hour or two and tapering as the party continues. To satisfy the 1½ to 2 drinks per hour, use 1.25 drinks per hour per guest and round to the nearest number because you won't be buying bottles in fractions. Don't forget to include yourself in the total guest count!

If you're offering beer, wine, and spirits, it is assumed that generally about 35% of your guests will be drinking mixed cocktails, 20% your guests will drink wine, 35% will drink beer, & 10% mocktails/non-alcoholic.

Calculate Beverages

Spirits: Number of guests x 1.25 x .35 (35%) ÷ 16 = bottles per hr x hrs of bar service ÷ 2 = Purchase # of Bottles

Wine: Number of guests x 1.25 x .20 (20%) ÷ 5 = bottles per hr x hrs of bar service ÷ 3 = Purchase # of Bottles

Beer: Number of guests x 1.25 x .35 (35%) ÷ 1 = cans per hr x hrs of bar service ÷ 24 {cans in a case} = # of Cases

As always we suggest a 12pk (or two) of an NA beer:

  • If you are serving only Beer, change your Beer percentage to 100%.

  • If you are doing Beer & Spirits, they estimate to put Beer at 70% and Spirits at 30%. However only YOU will know your guests best.

  • Again, we strongly suggest you provide a NON-Alcoholic Beer option, like Bud-Zero for your non-drinkers. *above & beyond pop/waters*
